Selected work does not need to be framed. Glass or Plexiglas must cover framed works on paper. Once selected, all work will be prepared for hanging by VSA arts, including framing where appropriate, with screw eyes and wire attached. If you have strong ideas about the work’s presentation including framing standards, specific equipment, context, or environment, please specify your preference within your submission.

Selected work will debut at the S. Dillon Ripley Center of the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C. The exhibition will then tour throughout the United States for approximately two years. At the end of this two-year period, artwork that is not purchased will be returned to the artists.

The top three awardees will be honored at the opening reception on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., during the fall of 2009.

Selected work will debut at the S. Dillon Ripley Center of the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C. from September 10, 2009 to January 6, 2010.
